Meet the Artist

Sahil Roy
Sahil Roy

Sahil Roy is a multi-disciplinary artist and muralist based in Melbourne, AUS. With a creative foundation as a graffiti artist spanning well over a decade, his transition into an abstract approach has allowed him to explore an entirely new avenue of style and creative self-expression.

Inspired by the spontaneous compositions that exist throughout his cityscape, he has long been drawn to these somewhat temporary glimpses of colour, shape and form. Built up from years of bill postering, scrawls, graffiti and neglect, layers of the past and present are lifted, torn and pulled back revealing pockets of collage like scrapbook pages.

After years of obsessively studying and documenting these experiences, Roy’s now signature layering processes enable him to capture his own visual narratives, floating through dynamic layers of stylistic introspection.

The Inspiration

Drawing inspiration from the signature cocktail the ‘Blue Army Navy’ I have created a dynamic, immersive experience utilising the striking palette of this drink and of course, the star of the show, the ducky!

Sitting in the middle of the room is a large abstracted, contemporary rendition of the classic rubber ducky, floating in a turquoise liquid mimicking the cocktail or suspended by a floor to ceiling toothpick much like an olive in a martini.

The surrounding walls are adorned with a swirling abstract composition featuring punchy turquoise and blues, supported by flashes of yellow, orange and red. Hints of fluro highlight and guide the eye across the room and tie everything together in the quirky and fun space
